What do you think you'll be like when you're 85? Do you think you'll be an eccentric geezer?

It's been another year since the last official picture post, and y'all probably look different now. I'm kind of imagining you having lost limbs, and being all deformed, and under those circumstances the old picture post would basically amount to fraud. So in order to set things straight, we'll start over, with another new picture post.

So, in the form of a question - what do you look like?

Rules
1. Aim for only one or two pictures per comment, nobody wants to see your whole "Me" album
2. If you want to post a new picture (having already contributed), just post a new picture as a new comment on the post itself, it's all good, you can leave the old one up..
3. These pictures will not be used for the purposes of any silly meta games, you have my word on that. The most that I'll do with them is link to them from your comments - there is no AMA Hot Or Not.

Have fun :o)

I've had a look on Google, but the results that came up weren't what I was looking for.

This is probably a long shot, but I'm wondering if anybody else might know the cartoon I'm looking for.  I know it was one from the 1990s, but other than that, it's all a little fuzzy.

For some reason, it was the ending that really stuck in my mind. There were about three or four wolves/dogs, and two of them were howling at the moon. I can clearly remember that one of them was grey, and had one eye.  It had snowed recently, and they were on a mountain.

Apart from that, it's all rather vague.

I don't think it was a Disney one, since the wolves/dogs were more realistically drawn than in Disney movies.

It might've been an animated version of Call of The Wild, but when I searched that, I couldn't really find any thing that looked familiar.

Thanks!

A friend and I have decided to study the Christian Bible. Given that neither of us are entering this pursuit believing it to be the inspired or literal word of god, our interest is primarily historical and literary, i.e, we would like to thoroughly understand the influences and direct causes of each book, and to firmly fix in our minds the stories and style of the Bible in their most culturally influential forms.

Firstly, the "history and influences" bit: Do you have any suggestions for references in this regard? There are various study bibles, but I don't know which supply the desired information, and which appeal to secular audiences. Any suggestions? I am also open to purely secondary sources, not just study bibles.

Secondly, the "most culturally influential" bit: I assume that some form of the Vulgate (Latin) Bible is the most influential in a literary sense, and that the King James Bible is the most influential in a popular sense -- i.e, the form containing the common Biblical phrases and notions that have crept into our collective consciousness ("City on a hill", "Man cannot live on bread alone", "Do not tempt the Lord thy God", etc.), but my exposure to the language of the King James version is likely due to my upbringing. Am I correct about the Vulgate and the KJV? I'm studying Latin anyway, and wouldn't mind the extra practice.

Thanks!

My boyfriend is very politically active, and the household in which i grew up has raised me to be politically ignorant. I want to be more involved in politics so that when him and I talk, I actually have a stance and can understand things. Does anyone know of any good websites that could help fill me in?

Just so you know, [info]sblmnldrknss knows that "comic books aren't challenging."

Reading should only ever be at age level or above and though she claims to read EVERYTHING in one comment, she is quick to later inform us that, in fact, she never reads children's fiction for fun because it is beneath her.

Apparently "if you're over, I don't know, 12, reading Harry Potter doesn't 'count' as reading anymore than reading People magazine 'counts' as reading." An interesting judgment from someone who has never read the books at all.

In that same vein, one doesn't have to actually KNOW about something in order to deem it unworthy in her world. she has never seen an episode of the Simpsons, but can claim with all confidence that it is juvenile because it involves animation. Also, all video games are childish.

And yes, this is the same person who would let a teenage daughter die after a botched abortion because abortion is wrong and getting her child medical help would make her morally culpable for the abortion.

how to get to Sesame Street?

As some of you may have seen on Google's homepage, this year it is Sesame Street's 40th anniversary. I have fond memories of watching this show at my grandmother's house when I was just a wee child. And who didn't cry when Cookie Monster declared his signature snack to be a "sometimes" food?

This week, show us how you may have learned your ABCs and 1-2-3s with your favorite Sesame Street character. Spinach Oscars, Banana Berts, Carrot Ernies... the possibilities are endless.
